Come and discover the magic of exploring a natural sink hole at the heart of the Caribbean jungle.
We begin the tour at 8:00 am on our way to the most beautiful underground river at the Mayan Riviera. After a short bus ride we arrive to the road through the jungle where we get on the selvamovil, our transportation through the jungle. Here we meet our guide that will give us a brief explanation about the place we are about to explore.
Once we’ve arrived at the site, we get suited up with the snorkeling equipment which is very easy to use.
We start our visit trough the cavern and its incredible rock formations. The mind and spirit starts to float trough fresh crystal clear water and it feels as if we were traveling through air as we see underneath us the stalagmites and fantastic cavern formations that are more than 40 million years old.
After this amazing encounter with the heart of mother earth the guide takes us trough a brief walk trough the jungle where we can see colorful birds and learn about the way the locals live and share the nature with its original inhabitants.
We get back into our snorkeling equipment and head back to the cavern where we explore the highlight of the expedition, an amazing underground cavern that gives us the feeling of being reborn again as we float trough crystal clear waters. As we discover the sun shining over the water we feel the new energy filling our mind and soul. It’s a moment that will stay with us for the rest of our life.
At the end of this fantastic trip we visit a small Mayan community where we have some local refreshments and fresh fruit. The way these people live gives us a good example of how it is possible to collaborate with nature and live in perfect harmony. The community is in charge of an ancient purification ceremony and it comes alive every night with the moon and the stars of this magical region.
